The directive was issued on December 31, 2025, during a conference held by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to review the outcomes of the 2025 Autumn Economic Forum. The meeting served to evaluate results, draw lessons for the 2026 edition, and announce key cooperation agreements stemming from the event.<\/p>\n

Elevating the 2026 Agenda<\/h2>\n

Deputy Prime Minister B\u00f9i Thanh S\u01a1n has called on government ministries and Ho Chi Minh City officials to begin immediate preparations for the Autumn Economic Forum 2026, urging stakeholders to enhance the event's prestige and strategic role on the global stage.<\/p>\n

Mr. S\u01a1n noted that the forum\u2019s themes must align with Vietnam's strategic priorities\u2014rapid and sustainable economic development in the new era\u2014while harmonizing Ho Chi Minh City's needs with global trends. He urged officials to propose practical, global-scale agendas to enhance the standing of both the city and the nation.<\/p>\n

\"Ho Chi Minh City must urgently coordinate with the WEF to develop the content and themes for the 2026 Forum,\" the Deputy Prime Minister stated. He advised city leadership to propose inviting high-level international leaders and to move toward co-organizing the forum with the WEF.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the selection of themes must align closely with the major orientations of the Party and State, adhering to strategic priorities for rapid and sustainable economic development to serve the country's strategic pillars in the new era. Furthermore, it must connect HCMC\u2019s needs with global trends.<\/p>\n

With the WEF\u2019s companionship, the Deputy Prime Minister required ministries and HCMC to proactively propose practical, global-scale initiatives, themes, and agendas, thereby raising the position of both Vietnam and HCMC.<\/p>\n

Through the 2026 Forum, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the HCMC People's Committee are to further boost economic and technological diplomacy. This will contribute to connecting international resources and attracting high-quality knowledge, technology, and investment to directly serve the development goals of the country and the city in the coming period.<\/p>\n

Simultaneously, efforts should be made to establish the Forum as a key component in the WEF\u2019s annual conference series: the Annual Meeting in Davos, the Annual Meeting of the New Champions in China, and the Autumn Economic Forum in HCMC. Ensuring connectivity, continuity, and mutual support among these events will help shape strategic thinking, expanding from multilateral dialogue to promoting specific bilateral and multilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n

Ministries, sectors, and localities need to actively study the content and recommendations from the 2025 Forum when building, reviewing, and refining strategies and policies related to green transition, digital transformation, the smart economy, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

Regarding HCMC, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the development and implementation of post-Forum schemes, programs, plans, and projects with urgency, creativity, and clear roadmaps. Major breakthrough programs could be reported to the Government for potential nationwide deployment.<\/p>\n

The City People's Committee must continue directing the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in HCMC to maximize its role in connecting and promoting domestic cooperation with the WEF network and global partners. This aims to leverage Industry 4.0 achievements and mobilize resources for rapid, sustainable development.<\/p>\n

The Government expects the Autumn Economic Forum in HCMC to continue rising in stature, becoming increasingly professional, substantial, and effective. It should gradually become a prestigious annual forum not only in Vietnam but also regionally and internationally\u2014a hub for connecting and implementing economic, technological, digital, and green transition agendas.<\/p>\n
