HCMC C4IR and SACIT (South Africa) partnering for digital transformation and enterprise capacity building

On April 28, 2026, the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC C4IR) and the South African Centre for Industry and Technology (SACIT) held an online working session to exchange practical experiences and agree on a cooperation roadmap for applying advanced technologies to industrial development.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed in depth the deployment of technological platforms such as Lighthouse OS and Lumina within their respective national industrial development roadmaps. Recognizing common challenges in the digital transformation process, HCMC C4IR and SACIT paid special attention to building advanced security models and transparent data governance processes. Accordingly, the two centers will coordinate to establish these mechanisms through a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) in collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF).

A highlight of the working session was the strong consensus on the vital importance of "localizing" artificial intelligence (AI) to effectively support the domestic business community. While HCMC C4IR is focusing on optimizing AI tools for smart agriculture and manufacturing in Vietnam, SACIT is prioritizing the application of this technology in South Africa's key mining sector. The cross-pollination of practical implementation experiences in these specific fields is expected to yield valuable lessons on how to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and boost productivity across the entire value chain.

To concretize these goals, HCMC C4IR and SACIT agreed on a comprehensive cooperation roadmap, focusing on three main pillars:

  • Global experience sharing:Establishing a regular meeting mechanism to update the development progress of the V-Smart platform and share successful models from the global C4IR network.
  • Pioneering new technologies: Focusing on identifying specific areas of cooperation within the Applied Quantum Technology program—a strategic spearhead currently being actively researched by both Vietnam and South Africa.
  • Enhancing enterprise capacity: Agreeing to develop a comprehensive support model that combines technical diagnostic tools with training activities, intensive workshops, and consulting from an international network of experts.

The event concluded with a commitment to tighten the strategic partnership between HCMC C4IR and SACIT. The shared aspiration to master Industry 4.0 technologies, combined with their distinct industrial strengths, promises to create practical synergistic values, contributing to the robust and sustainable growth of the digital economy in both nations.
